Roam is a technology company that develops, designs and deploys electric vehicles and energy systems tailored for the African continent, leading the transition to sustainable transport. We focus on designing and co-developing tailored products for the local use-case that unlocks mass-scale deployment to a completely untapped market.
Key Duties and responsibilities:
- Day-to-day running of all operations relating to batteries deployed in the field.
- Supporting Roam After Sales team with fault triage to determine whether field reports of battery issues are genuine battery issues.
- Ownership of the whole process of identifying faults, developing fixes, creating the supporting documentation, and reporting performance metrics to the wider business.
- Working with Roam’s suppliers to develop, test, and deploy long-term fixes to repeat faults.
- Maintenance of all technical documentation concerning deployed batteries.
- Line management of Series Engineering technicians and engineers.
- Supporting new product engineering teams during engineering reviews of future systems to ensure previous mistakes do not reoccur.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher vocational qualification in a technical discipline.
- Hands-on prototyping experience.
- A good understanding of different manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Some exposure to battery systems (informal experience and/or self-taught knowledge is acceptable) - a familiarity with battery architecture and key component families (cells, BMS, chargers, E/E components).
- 3+ years continuous experience (to the present day) in a technical profession.
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation including requirements, engineering drawings, test reports.
- Strong communication skills - excellent written and oral command of English.
- Natural computer user, experience with Google productivity tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Ability to write prototype code in Python for basic data processing
Added advantage
- OEM automotive experience.
- Exposure to working across cultures.
- Ability to read and write in any additional language(s).
